ORBI AX6000 coming up as public

I have been running Orbi for years. For the last few years I have run a Fibe modem straight to my ORBI, and then all of my internet access downstream from there. I have one router, one wired satellite, and one wireless satellite.

The other night my network starting acting up, and it has only gotten significantly worse since.

I contacted my ISP, and they assure me there are zero issues.

I contacted SONOS as I have about a dozen of their products, and they were all acting up in varied patterns. There is no steady fix, with speaker randomly appearing and disappearing.

I swapped my existing ORBI AX6000 system (2 years old and under warranty) for new, because I had no idea what else to do.

I contacted apple because I kept getting wifi errors when attempting to reconnect an Apple TV.

I am consistently getting captive.apple.com errors saying my device is paused, and I need to contact a different ISP (a competitor - Rogers). These have been on two different iPhones, and an iPad. I have gotten similar screens on my PC. I did a "what is my ISP" site a few times, and had Rogers (incorrect ISP) showing up. When trying to connect to my ORBI on my PC through the 192.168.1.1 this morning, from a hardwired to satellite (wifi to router) PC I got the same error.

Last week, I was ISSUE FREE. I am now staring at bricks with no fix in sight.

Any help?

  • What do you mean by coming up as public?

What model orbi do you have? RBK850 or 860 series?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.
    How many RBS are deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?

Does this happen with the RBS turned OFF?
Does this happen with both wireless and wired devices?
What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

Be sure to disable any MAC Address randomizers on phones and pads while at home:

Something to contact Apple about for issues seen on there products.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Screenshot to show error Apple says comes on public networks

      Firmware v4.6.14.3

Sagemcom big white “5628” but will have to confirm when home

Same CAT 6 I’ve been using for years.

Two RBS. One wired, one wireless.

      2100sqft

      Haven’t tried without RBS

Wired to wireless RBS and wireless have issue

      2.4GHz Auto
      5GHz 48

Apple sees this error in phones at hotels, or college kids in dorms. PC seeing same error.

I have done a number or reset attempts in all sorts of configurations including leaving it all off all day today, and turning whole house off for ten minutes, as well as sequencing modem, router, satellite.

I am at work right now but can provide more in a few hours, or tomorrow.
