Orbi RBR750 IP address is odd to me

Hello cool Netgear community. I noticed something odd that I could use someone to tell me if this is normal or not ideal.

My home network issues IP addresses on 192.168.0.x, with 192.168.0.1 being my cable router.

My fancy Orbi RBR750 is plugged in and SEEMS to be working for the most part. However, I noticed the Orbi router has an IP address starting at 192.168.1.1

My issue is that my wireless Brother printer sometimes "forgets" its settings (don't ask me why) and when it attempts to connect to the network, it seems to like Orbi better, and the mesh network gives it an IP address 192.168.1.4.

That presents a problem because most of my devices are getting 192.168.0.XXX. In fact, I have tried to statically assign that printer 192.168.0.4, and it's driving *@(*IF*$#(* crazy that it periodically forgets.

I suppose I should have all these devices on the same network, right? Orbi shouldn't be on a different subnet, assuming I want all my devices to play together. How do I go about forcing Orbi to drop the .1?

Router Information

RBR750

Orbi

192.168.1.1

Internet Port

External IP address 192.168.0.211

Gateway IP 192.168.0.1

DNS 192.168.0.1

DHCP

Thanks to anyone shedding light.

If the Orbi is placed in Access Point (AP) mode, then the ISP router will assign all IP addresses in the 192.168.0.x IP subnet and everything will be in the same network.

    This accomplishes several goals:

    • All devices are in the same IP subnet.
    • There is no longer a "Double NAT", which can interfere with specific internet applications. (Thousands of users have a Double NAT and are blissfully unaware.  Those who are affected learn very quickly that "something is wrong.")
    • None of the Orbi router functions remain enabled.  No Armor. No Parental Controls. No OpenVPN. etc. etc.

  • What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. https://kb.netgear.com/30186/What-is-Double-NAT
    https://kb.netgear.com/30187/How-to-fix-issues-with-Double-NAT
    Couple of options,
    1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the Orbi router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
    2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the Orbi router gets from the modem. Then you can use the Orbi router in Router mode.
    3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the Orbi router to the modem, configure AP mode on the Orbi router. https://kb.netgear.com/31218/How-do-I-configure-my-Orbi-router-to-act-as-an-access-point and https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H7LOcJ8GdDo&app=desktop

    I would try option #1 or 2.

Seems like the printer is carrying over it's configuration possibly when it connects to the Orbi system or is getting past thru from the host router thru the Orbi system.

You may want to set a static IP address ON the printer or set a IP address reservation for the printer on the host router or the Orbi system if you want it connecting to the Orbi system. Contact the printers Mfr support site for help and information regarding there product.
