I have seen many references to dropped Internet connections by NetGear Orbi and Nighthawk routers. I have not found a definitive answer. I did see a related community post a related community post but I don't know if that solution worked.

My firmware is version V4.6.8.2_2.1.9. The Orbi App and the router management website both claim that there is no newer firmware available. However, I was able to download firmware files for both the router and satellite for version 4.6.8.5. I haven't updated the devices with this firmware -- yet.

Thanks in advance for any insights.

Hello, FURRYe38, and thank you for your quick response.

The modem/ONT is the Alcatel-Lucent I-211M-L, provided by Frontier FIOS.

My home is two-story, 1900 sq ft, wood framed with drywall. The router and the satellite are on separate floors, about 15 feet apart, separated by two interior weight-bearing walls. It’s important to note that the symptoms I am experiencing happens even when the satellite is shut down.

      Thanks again.

      • What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

15 feet is too close to the RBR with the RBS.

Has a factor reset been performed on the RBR since last update?

You might update FW to v.5 and see if this helps. If you do, update the RBS first, the RBR lastly.
