Orbi RBR850 Slow upload speed on ethernet

Hi all,

I am trying to track down this issue that I am having with my orbi. My ISP is 1Gbps up and down however I am seeing extremely slow speeds for upload from my RBR850.

This is the things I have done so far:

Upgrade firmware version: V7.2.6.21_5.0.20

Tests cables, running on a brand new CAT6 cable.

Ran speed tests with different machines.

Wifi on laptop/phone: ~650Mbps up and down

Ethernet on my windows 10 pc: ~950Mbps down and ~45Mbps upload.

Has anyone run into this issue before? I had another router plugged in and was able to get around ~950Mbps up and down from it. So I am thinking its the orbi but I also enabled wifi on my PC and was still getting the same speeds as the ethernet so I am confused where the problem might be. I was leaning toward my PC at first because of the wifi speeds but the other router kind of shot that part down.

Thanks!

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

What is the brand and model of the ethernet adapter in the wired PC?

    Drivers up to date?

Armor or Traffic Meter enabled on the RBR?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

What speed test app are you using?
Happens with other ethernet connected PCs?

      ISP modem: Calix gigapoint GP1100X

      NIC: Realtec PCIe 2.5GbE

      Drivers are up to date

      No Armored or Meter enabled

Reboots have occurred in sequence as well.

Speedtest.net and fast.com are the speed test providers

Don't have any other PCs that have ethernet ports in the house.

What does this one wired PC seen when connected directly to the ONT?

Might try a full on Factory reset on the RBR, power OFF the ONT for 1 minute then back ON, then walk thru the setup wizard with the PC and web broswer. Don't enabled anything on the RBR after the setup completes. Run some speeds tests soon after you complete the setup.

Be sure the CAT6 Cable is STP.

What does the CPU and memory usage show for values on the RBRs debug page? routerIP/debug.htm
