Orbi/Satellite vs Nighthawk/Extender for gaming
Happy holidays! I posted a previous thread on the Nighthawk community, and am looking for more insight from the Orbi community. I’m looking to cover 2700 sqft of home, and thinking of switching from X6 R8000 Nighthawk to an OrbiRBK752 x1 satellite to broaden coverage upstairs/downstairs. My hesitancy has been the expected loss and lag/latency drop off, especially if hardwired to the satellite. My internet speed tops out at 400mbs. This unit also made IGNs list for 2021 gaming routers, which gives me hope. Any help/insight would be appreciated!
Glad you got it working. Please mark your thread as solved so others will know. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.

Best connection for gaming is ethernet connected to the RBR. Unless you can get the RBS ethernet connected to the RBR. Placement and distance between the RBR and RBS is important.
- LuckyClover13AspirantThat’s makes sense. How much distance is advised from each satellite? I have not found a clear answer on that. I’m looking at about 40 ft distance between downstairs and upstairs.
30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS📡 to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.
