RBK850 Dropping Internet Connection During Work Hours
Model: RBR850,RBS850,Alcatel-Lucent Fibre ONT
Firmware: v4.6.9.11
OS: Windows 10, Linux
Environment: Telus PureFibre direct to RBR850, wired backhaul to RBS850, wired LAN to servers and desktop computers
Issue
I have a Telus PureFibre connection to an Alcatel-Lucent fibre ONT provided by Telus. This is connected via CAT6 to the RBR850.
My RBR850 has a number of servers, cameras, and IoT devices in the range 192.168.1.10 - 192.168.1.100. Any other devices connecting use DHCP for 192.168.1.101 onwards.
Occasionally the router will flash magenta and lose internet connection. If this happens, I am able to access other devices on my LAN but I am not able to ping any internet locations.
I have had a Telus technician attend. They tested the fibre connection and confirmed the signal is good and everything is working from their end. At my request they replaced the previous Huawei fibre ONT with the Alcatel-Lucent fibre ONT. The intermittent issue continues and is affecting my ability to work from home.
When the router flashes magenta I connect a laptop directly to the fibre ONT via CAT6. It immediately gets an internet connection.
To fix this I power down the router and the fibre ONT for at least 30 minutes. Powering them up, the router usually identifies and resolves the internet connection. Occasionally I need to do this another one or two times.
I have applied the latest firmware updates.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?Have you had the following enabled? Armor, Smart Parental Controls, or Traffic Meter.
Do you have any RBS deployed?
What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
Is SIP ALG disabled on the RBR?

No. There has never been any direction from NetGear - or any other manufacturer - to perform a factory reset after a firmware upgrade.

Statc IPs are defined directly on most devices. Six IP cameras have MAC address IP reservation.
What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.

Wireless connections are unaffected. Internet connectivity is affected.
2.4GHz is on Auto, 5GHz is on 48.
Have you had the following enabled? Armor, Smart Parental Controls, or Traffic Meter.
Armor is not enabled.
Smart Parental Controls are not enabled.
Traffic Meter is not enabled.
Do you have any RBS deployed?

There is one RBS850 connected via wired backhaul.
Is SIP ALG disabled on the RBR?
Current settings:
Advanced | Setup | WAN Setup | NAT Filtering | Secured
Advanced | Setup | WAN Setup | NAT Filtering | Disable SIP ALG is unchecked

As a troubleshooting step, IF problems are seen after a FW update, if after most troubleshooting steps have been tried or exhausted, common last resort step is to factory reset. Been many issues solved by this.

If you using static IP addresses ON devices, common normal and standard networking practice for using Static IP addresses is to use these out side of the default IP address pool range. Not with in it.

There is one RBS850 connected via wired backhaul.
Is the RBS directly connected to the back of the RBR or is there a LAN switch or LAN patch panel in between?
Is SIP ALG disabled on the RBR?

Advanced | Setup | WAN Setup | NAT Filtering | Secured
Advanced | Setup | WAN Setup | NAT Filtering | Disable SIP ALG is unchecked
Try SIP ALG enabled.
