RBK853 - How many additional satellites?
I have an RBK853 with two satellites setup and working ok. I say OK because the iOS app is unstable at times and Orbi itself loses internet connection and satellites dop - most noticable overnight where I see the pink/blue lights on the satellites and the router reports no internet connection. With the myriad of routers and mesh units I've used, Orbi is the only system that is unstable in this manner but the speeds (when it works) are tops so I put up with it for now. But it is Orbi that is unstable with the internet connection as no other mesh/router in my home have exhibited this internet loss.
But, how many satellites can this system currently support beyond the 2 that came with the RBK853? Also, will the outdoor RBS50Y work at all and without being hard wired?

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and satellite(s)? 30 feet is recommended in between RBR and RBS to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected. https://kb.netgear.com/000036466/How-far-should-I-place-my-Orbi-satellite-from-my-Orbi-routerI have 5000sq ft home and just 1 RBS seems to cover the entire place well. Yes I have the 2nd RBS now.
Not sure how many officially NG will support. I know with Orbi AC they go far as 3-4 and thats it. However others have posted having 6 RBS to 1 RBR. No idea if that will be the same for Orbi AX.
Any Orbi RBS50 series are still not compatible wirelessly at this time. No information as of yet from NG on when this will happen nor will we see any information in this regard. I presume when they are ready and get them talking to each other over WiFi, they will announced it in the release notes and maybe make an announcment here in the forums. Until then, keep your eyes on the release notes as FW updates get posted.

It's primarily to try and get more signal to the outside of my home. The Orbi AX is really bad the moment I walk out of my home. It completely dies all around my home and I need strong signals around the house for outdoor cameras. I know bout the prior Orbi as I had 4 satellites plus the outdoor RBS50Y all connected and working. I sold that system, save the RBS50Y, and need to know specifically about the Orbi AX if anybody has had success with 3 or more RBS850 satellites (don't care about hard wiring RBS50 satellites - just wireless RBS850 ones). I would also like to know if the RBS50Y will work with the RBR50?
This Orbi AX is pathetic to penetrate outside my home. Inside with 2 satellites no problem - just outside.
Thanks for the response.
The RBSY does work wirelessly with the 50 series Orbi.
Hopefully someone may post about having 3 RBS850s. I presume 3-4 may work just fine. Placement and distance from RBR will be key as well.

Maximum number of satellites is limited to 8 in the Orbi AX software.
