RBR 860 not showing satellites as wired

I have two rbs850 satellites wired to an rbr860 router. All works ok but the Orbi app is telling me they are connected by 5 ghz rather than wire. Tried plugging and unplugging but no change. Any guidance?

  • Check the Orbi web interface (http://orbilogin.net )  If Attached Devices (at the top of the page) shows satellites 'wired', then the 'app' is (substitute appropriate epithet).

      Thank you for the tip.

Unfortunately, the web interface also does not show the satellites as wired.  I also realized that one of the wired satellites is out of sync.  After rebooting still same result.  There is no option to remove the satellite in the attached devices portion of the web interfaces so I cannot figure out how to do a full factory rest (ie remove satellite then factory reset).

The other wired satellite appears as 5ghz but has a good back haul with connected devices. Any guidance?

  • How are the RBS conected to the RBR? Directly behind the RBR or is there any kind of LAN switch in between?

Did you first wirelessly sync the RBS to the RBR then ethernet connect them?

What CAT# LAN cable are you using between the RBS and RBR? CAT6 is recommended.

Thank you - one of the wired satellites is showing up fine. The other is giving wired speeds but showing as connected by 5g daisy chain to other wired satellite. I believe house is weird mostly via Cat 5e but maybe Cat 6 in some places.

Turn OFF the working RBS and see what happens...

IF the one RBS thats showing up as daisy chain, and not wired, most likely a bad ethernet connection between the RBS and RBR, cabling or ethernet jack in home maybe bad.

It's recommended to use all one CAT# lan cable and not mix them.
