Telephone connection with Openreach ONT with Orbi353
Will switch over to BT broadband (FTTP available). My current setup is Virgin hub (in Modem mode) and Netgear Orbi Mesh in Router mode off it. I have a copper landline as well.
Plan to switch to BT / Sky FTTP 500mb service. I will lose the copper landline as I will be asked to use phone connection at the back of the ISP Hub. As I understand it, neither BT / Sky Hubs can not be run in modem mode.
This means I cannot run Orbi mesh in router mode - I can but may have double net issues. Running Orbi in AP mode may solve this but will there be issues?
This must be a common issue with Orbi users. Is there A SOLUTION TO THIS PLEASE?

Orbi is still great in AP mode. You will loose some features like parental control, VPN, DDNS, .... but you will still get the same good wifi coverage.
On the other hand, if you want to run Orbi in Router mode, and if you can't bridge the BT / Sky Hubs, will you be able to just set the BT / Sky Hubs to forward traffic to DMZ and disable DHCP? If there is such settings in the ISP router then you will be able to run Orbi in Router mode.
Will look into the DMZ issue. Please explain a bit more on one cannot use VPN. I sometimes use the VPN via Chrome browser - will this be an issue?
- ekhalilMasterThe VPN that requires Orbi in Router mode is the Orbi as VPN server. That is you connect from outside your home to Orbi and become as if you’re at home (get an internal IP address from Orbi). Other types of VPN will work regardless of Orbi operating mode.
