This happen very sudden like a week ago. Access was fine before.

This is pretty unacceptable support. My router is practically brand new and was very expensive and I'm already resetting it to lose all my settings? I have tenants and guests using this network so it's not easy to just shut it down. Incidentally, my device still shows the 4.6.3.16 firmware version (cached I guess) which is the exact same version as on your support page at https://www.netgear.com/support/product/RBR850.aspx#download

How do I know I'm not going to get auto-updated right into the same problem?

  • I have exact same problem from last week. I have RB750 system. My internet works perfectly. I have tried to connect to router login via wi-fi and lan both. The ping test works perfectly. Power cycled both modem and router multiple times and waited for couple days to try again. But same issue persists. Tried with different PCs, Phones, Browsers and all have the same issue.

I can't simply factory reset and start again as I have lots of static IPs assigned, lots of port forwarding rules applied for my multiple NAS systems on which I am hosting my business websites. I first would need to back up my settings before I factory reset.

I really need some solution other than factory reset please. And if factory reset is the only solution, then I need help on first getting backup of all settings which I can then simply reload.

jalshah05 Totally agree. This is completely unacceptable. I'm also very concerned that the 'bad' firmware is still listed on their downloads page. If there's a problem it should be pulled to avoid others getting automatically upgraded.

I bought mine at Costco so I think I can probably return it. Pretty strongly considering it and never buying Netgear again. The hardware seems pretty good but if they're going to push bad firmwares that cripple our networks I can't use them.

Edit: Just checked and I bought it less than 90 days ago. Back to Costco with it. When I buy the most expensive mesh system available and it's already bricked within 2 months I'm not interested in that product anymore. Plus I find out Netgear only gives 90 days support? Garbage.

FURRYe38, I just saw that post. I really hope that they find a fix which does not require me to factory reset. I can wait till month end for them to push the fix otherwise I'll have to go factory reset and downgrade path.

You need to factory reset if you want immediate access.
