WiFi 6 RBR 750 and I only used 1 satellite
I bought an orbi mesh WiFi 6 RBR 750 and I only used 1 satellite. Now 3 years later I tried to add the second satellite that came with my system and it wont recognize the second satellite. I tried resetting north the orbi system and satellite with no success. I tried updating the latest firmware but nothing seems to work. Pls help!

The WiFi6 Orbi products seem to struggle when the router and satellites are not on the same firmware. That seems to be why Netgear insists that the correct procedure to follow when changing firmware is to do the satellites first and the router last. i.e. if changing the satellite firmware causes it to no longer sync with the router, when the router firmware is changed to match the satellite then they will work together again. If the use did the router first, then the satellite would no longer be connected and thus could not be updated.
It might be the case that the router and satellite have been updated during the past 3 years and that original satellite remains on whatever firmware it had when the package was created.
Since the router and satellite are currently on the latest firmware (v7.2.7.15, correct?), there are two strategies that might work.
After downloading v7.2.7.15 for the satellite and extracting the firmware from the zip file.
- Connect the satellite to the computer holding the firmware file with an Ethernet cable.
- Nothing else connected to either the computer or the satellite.
- Go into the computer network settings and give it a Static IP address of 192.168.1.x (anything other than 250)
- Power up the satellite.
- Strategy 1. Use the satellite web interface. Open a web browser to 192.168.1.250 and see if the satellite web interface appears.
If it does appear, select the Firmware Update menu option.
Load the firmware file onto the satellite.
After the satellite reboots with the new firmware, disconnect the Ethernet cable and perform the Add Orbi Satellite process on the router. - If that doesn't work, it should be possible to use either TFTP or nmrpflash to load the firmware directly onto the satellite:

Thank you, I tried to upload the firmware manually but wasn't able to on my laptop. Am I able to do this while my laptop is connected on wifi and I connect the satellite via Ethernet cable ?

Will need to be ethernet connected to the back of the RBS.

I plugged rbs satellite directly via Ethernet, then tried directly as some said to connect it to the orbi and then lastly direct feed form my modem and none worked.

The key parts in using the satellite Self-Service feature are:
- that the laptop connected to the satellite needs to be connected only to the satellite by an Ethernet cable.
No connection to any other network until after the process is complete and the satellite is being put into service. - that the laptop has a Static IP address in the LAN subnet 192.168.1.x

I linked the self service web page in a earlier post to help guide you thru that process.
- that the laptop connected to the satellite needs to be connected only to the satellite by an Ethernet cable.
