WiFi drops connection 5-15 times a day and it’s for 30 seconds - 5 minutes at a time

Hello all,

I have a RBR850 — Orbi WiFi 6 Router AX6000 with 2 Satellites.

All was working fine and since 2/3 months I have my WiFi droping connection 5-15 times a day and it’s for 30seconds - 5 minutes at a time.

Wifi drops for all devices (iOS, macOS,...) Firmware is V4.6.3.16

I've noticed that sometimes the satelittes are showing a blue light for no reason and this does not seem to be related to the loss of wifi.

Thx for your help.

T.

  • What modem/gateway do you have?

Have you noticed if its devices on a certain satellite?

Does it happen if you shut off the satellites (for testing)?

Has a factory reset been tried?

Hey plemans , thx for your reply.

      What modem/gateway do you have?

      - It's a general Box (France/Orange)
Have you noticed if its devices on a certain satellite?

      - I would not know where to start to troubleshoot this ?

      - I have interveted both satellites and experienced the same issues with same devices.
Does it happen if you shut off the satellites (for testing)?

      - I havn't tried out this. will do.
Has a factory reset been tried?

      - Nope. Would you recommend saving the configuration , factory reset and load back the configuration?

The problem appeared a few months ago after months and months of working flawlessely.

I've tried Wifi Explorer to find the best suitable channel and noticed the drops (if they are indeed the drops)

      Thx.

        I would try this order.

        1. try the factory reset. You can reinstall using a backup configuration but if the problem still happens, then try the reset without using the backup configuration. If somethings corrupt in the settings, sometimes teh backup just puts the corruption back on the router.

        2. then try the shutting off the satellites and see if it works.

        3. if it works fine with both satellites off, then turn 1 on and test it and see how it works. Test it and then swap the satellites to the other one on. That'd allow you to test the satellites to see if somethings wrong with one of them.
