WiFi speed puzzle

I have Orbi 353 Mesh system.

I was with Virgin Media 350 speed. Wired, I got the max 350+ speed. The WiFi was giving about 200ish nearly all the time.

I have now swapped over to FTTP service ( by Giganet) which is 500/70.  I get this easily on the wired connection but the WiFi now gives me about 100ish download and full 70 upload. The Orbi is connected to the ONT directly.

I am puzzled by the drop in speed. Any suggestions please?

  • Interesting... Rebooted the iPad and android phone and the speeds are as before - i.e. as they were with Virgin Media.

What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router and 📡 satellite(s)? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR and RBS🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wirelessly connected.

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

The setup has not changed at all. I have moved from Cable to FTTP optical service.  The Ethernet cable to my desktop PC gives full speed.

      Issue is the WiFi

What device was used to make these Speed Tests?

Does Attached (or Connected) Devices indicate that this device is still connected to the router?
