Can an old RBS50Y be used with a newer 370 mesh system?

I have an old Orbi RBR50 system with a couple of RBS50 satellites and an outdoor RBS50Y.

I need the outdoor coverage for security elements positioned quite a way from the main building.

Netgear have discontinued support for the RBR50 which means I now need to upgrade to either a 370 or 770 system, but still need to utilise an outdoor connection. As there doesn’t seem to be an equivalent WiFi 7 outdoor solution, can I still use the older RBS50Y with the newer system? Is there a compatibility matrix available?

Thanks in advance!!

    1. If its working, you don't need to upgrade. Its a pretty solid system and you won't gain much going to the 370 system. The 50 series had a pretty rock solid dedicated backhaul and the RBS50Y is one of the only outdoor rated satellites. I'd keep using it.
    2. If you do need to upgrade (still doubtful), I wouldn't go to the 370 series from the 50. Its not going to really add much for performance improvement. A bit on concurrent usage just because its wifi 7 versus wifi 5.
    3. The RBS50Y has an extender mode you can use. But it won't integrate with the newer systems. It'll just act as an extender.

Why do you think you need to upgrade? Ending support just means there aren't any more updates/optimizations. If it still works, meets your needs, then I'd keep using it.

Thanks very much for your detailed response! You make a very good point for remaining with my current set up - I think that’s what I’ll do. Appreciate your help 👍👍👍
