Intermittent loss of Internet access plus IOT issues

I am using the Orbi as Access Point only, have 3 satellites, Larger size 2 storey home, all sats are connected hardwire Cat6 to the 971. Initially worked well, but about 6 months ago I started to develop intermittent loss of connection to the internet. My router is a Mikrotik and am on FTTP. I have the Orbi setup for auto download of FW and running the latest on all units. The 971 has a 50cm Cat6 cable to the router/dhcp.

I run 2 SSID's from this setup, one having both 2.4 plus 5/6 and the other locked to 2.4 for my IOT devices but the "IOT" connected deices cannot get any internet access at all when connected to it, the devices connected will get an IP address allocated but will not get access. I do have lots of IOT Devices in the house.

I had the same issues with the AC unit not having access to the cloud, connecting either via the main SSID or the IOT SSID and after lots of trial and error I finally installed a different brand of AP again locked to 2.4g and hard wired to the router and that works perfectly has not dropped at all.

This has me stumped, I've tried rebooting the 971 as well as all Sats and as many of the IOT devices I can but does not make any difference.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Does front LED on RBR turn PINK or blink WHITE when this happens?

Is the RBR in Router or AP mode connected to the Microtik router?

How are the RBS connected to the RBR? Directly behind the RBR or is there a LAN switch or LAN patch panel in between then?

What Firmware version is currently loaded?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended.

IPv6 enabled on the RBR or disabled?

What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channel configurations are currently set on the router?

  • When I have been able to get to it I have noted that it does turn Pink

RBR is only running in AP mode

The house was fully hardwired using Cat6 before moving in so all RBS are connected direct, all patch leads from the patch panel are Cat6 and yes STP recommended, the RBR sits directly above the Cabinet for the patch panel so all Cat6 connections are only 50cm in length.

    FW Version for RBR/RBS V9.13.2.1_1.3.35

Mikrotik CRS Router running RouterOS v6.49.20, that is the current Stable Version for this unit, connected to the NBN FTTP

    Only running IPV4

Distance would be approximately 40 - 80 feet, 2 storey house, brick and timber frame

I'm thinking you have at least one PC connected to a router LAN port. If so, have you tried pinging the RBR and RBS from the PC when the internet connection drops?

Were there any changes to the network around the time the problem started?

Do you also have switches on the network?

  • Yep have a couple of Windows and Mac's connected via LAN

Haven't pinged the RBR or RBS when the problem has occurred, but will see if I can the next time this happens.

No changes to the network since installed

I x Switch, another Mikrotik CRS 24 Port, running same RouterOS Version as router as this is both for Router and switch,  I needed more than 24 ports, but reason why I hardwired the place.
