Orbi 970_Upload Suddenly Capped at 50mbs

Hello,

 

I have had a pleasant experience with the 970 mesh throughout the last year - where i seemed to be getting the most out of my service providers 900/100 originally and the 900/300 about 2 months ago when i switched provided. 

 

Over the last week however, i have noticed the upload speed not being quite as fast as it was previously. Latest speed tests show the download remains fine at 900, but upload seems capped (mostly getting 20mb/s and sometimes 40 - connected via ethernet). 

 

When i connect direct to fibre box with the pc via ethernet i get the full whack, 900/300 - but when re-connected to the 970 router the upload is again capped. 

 

I have switched ethernet cables, and factory reset the router - but no change! Firmware is the latest V9.13.1.2_1.3.24. Anyone have an idea on what could have gone wrong? -  Is there anything else i could check? Appreciate any assistance here - thanks!

    What speed testing site are you using? Ooklas installable speed test app is recommended. Be sure to try different test site servers in the app.

    Tried a different PC or laptop to compare results? 

    What brand and model# is the ethernet adapter in the test pc? 

     

    What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too? 
    Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6A STP is recommended. 

     

    Is IPv6 enabled on the RBR?

    Using ISP detected IPv4 DNS or custom DNS?

     

    Any Orbi features enabled like SPC or Armor or Traffic Meter?

      Hi, see below answers to the queries. I should stress that it works fine without the router when connected directly to fibre box, and that i have factory rest the orbi router. This worked fine for most of the last 2 months since shifting ISP - i have only noticed the slow upload during the last week.

       

      • I have been using ookla speedtest and the one that is accessible via the router settings.
      • I have connected the PC direct to the ONT via ethernet and and in this scenario i am getting close to the max 900/300
      • Ethernet adapter is Marvell AQtion 10Gbit, and i have tried multiple cables (including the one that achieves 900/300 when direct connected to fibre box)
      • DNS - using ISP automatically assigned dns
      • IPv6 enabled
      • ORBI features Armor or Traffic Meter - not enabled (i have factory reset the orbi and issue remains)

      Any help appreciated - cheers

        Try using custom DNS and disable IPv6 as well. 

        Try a different PC with a built in ethernet adapter to compare results.

    Hi, the ONT is NOKIA G-010G-R.

    I disabled IPv6 and have tried different custom DNS, but with no improvement. I do not have another device with ethernet adaptor to test, but all of my wifi devices show the same bottleneck with upload that did not happen before.

    Also, for information I am connected via PPOE

     

    Can this be a hardware failure with the orbi router? Can something have happened to limit my upload - all worked well up until about 2 weeks ago (without any firmware or settings changing), and now even after a factory reset i can only achieve 10% of the upload speeds that i had before (and with PC bypassing the orbi).
