Orbi RBE771 and Satellite - wont sync.

Hi all

I have just installed ORBI 771 router successfully. I am trying to install and sync the satellite.

It shows on my app as having been added to the network but will not sync.

I assumed it needed a firmware update but dont know how to do this without it connecting to the router.

So, after it was added to the network, i linked it to router by ethernet - it then synced with the router. I cannot say whether any firmware (i do not think it was).

I then removed it from the router and via the ethernet and placed it where it is needed. Now, when i switch the satellite on it states offline.

Can anyone help?

If its a case of the the satelitte needing a firmware upgrade why does it work on ethernet port? And if so how do i complete the firmware upgrade.

FYI i have factory reset the system twice already.

TIA

  • So with the RBS in same room as the RBR, say 12-15 feet away, press the reset button on the RBS for 15 seconds. Look at the back of the RBS and the power LED, after the LED changes from AMBER to GREEN power OFF the RBS.

Now factory reset the RBR using the ERASE button on the RBR web page. Under Advanced Tab/Advanced Settings/Wireless Settings

Allow the RBR to perform the reset and reboot. Let the front LED go WHITE. Don't do anything here.
    Power ON the RBS.

Lets give the RBS about 5-10 minutes, it should auto sync to the RBR with out doing anything between them.

If the front LED changes to BLUE on the RBS, open a web browser on a ethernet connected PC and navigate to 192.168.1.1 and begin to walk thru the setup wizard. You should be able to get to the part were it detects the RBS and it should find it there.

    Complete the setup wizard process.

Let us know if you can get to this stage here.

    Hello Neecho,

    Welcome to the NETGEAR Community!

I understand that you are having issues with your Orbi satellite syncing to your Orbi router and you believe it may be an firmware issue. Since you are able to successfully sync to satellite to the router with ethernet we can use that connection to update your satellite.

Please follow the instructions below to update your satellite when it is connected to your router using ethernet:

Navigate to the Orbi admin page.

    ADVANCED.

    Firmware update.

    Select the "Manual update tab".

Select the small box next to the satellite.

Then select update and follow the prompts (Please be sure to unzip the firmware download and select the .CHK file within).

If you are unable to successfully update your RBE770 using the methods above please navgiate the to link below and watch the embedded video on how to update your satellite by itself (Please be sure to use .CHK file after unzip).

Please keep us updated on the progress of this issue!

    Best,

    Kevin
