RBE970 and Satellites Rebooting Randomly?

I have an RBE970 and two 971s.

Firmware is V9.12.5.3_1.3.24

They seem to be working well with the exception of random reboots.

Just did it again, I am not sure of the periodicity.

One satellite is hard wired, the other is wireless.

Only using the Orbi in AP mode.

More RBE 970 information:

I think I have read where others are seeing this as well.  Any suggestions or are there firmware fixes in the works?

  • Not going to lie. Not sure if mine are or not. We have regular power issues (really need a new UPS) and so I can't trust my system uptime. But its been pretty solid with 2x ethernet connected backhauls.

Thanks.  Mine is not a power issue... it sits behind a very nice (and new) UPS.   Just every few days, I see the white reboot light flashing - and then it is rebooted.  Not a huge issue, but an indication something is in the land of not-quite-right.

  • Does front LEDs on both RBR and RBS turn PINK or Blink WHITE when this happens?

    How often does this happen?

How is the RBR configured for AP mode, Dynamic or Static IP address configuration?

What is the brand and model# host router that the RBR is connected too?

What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT?
Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the Host router and RBR. CAT6A STP is recommended.

Try disabling all Logging on the RBR.

What is the size of your home? Sq Ft?
What is the distance between the router 📡 and satellite(s)🛰️? 30 feet or more is recommended in between RBR 📡 and RBS 🛰️ to begin with depending upon building materials when wired or wirelessly connected.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

They blink white from what I have seen on all satellites and base station

The RBR has a static IP address (192.168.1.2) and the satellites as well (.4,.5)

The LAN cable between the host router is the best quality available, CAT6.  It is less than 2.5 feet in length and is new.

All logs are turned off except Router operation (startup, get time etc)

      Here are current logs:

Every hour on the hour it does something, I am not sure if that is a restart or what.  I will watch it at the next 41 minutes past the hour to see what it is doing to create that log.

House is 3,500 sq feet and a 1 story ranch.... RBR 970 in absolute middle.  Satellites are at either ends - at least 50-60 feet.  One is hard wired, the other is wireless backhaul.

I have no issue with wireless connectivity -- have 90+ devices of which at any given time 50+ are online and work well... with the exception of during a reboot.

What Is the host routers default DHCP IP address pool size?

What is the brand and model# host router that the RBR is connected too?

Does this happend with both RBS wireless connected?

Ok, I put my 970 series online in AP mode. RBS wireless connected for now.

RS600 is host router with wifi disabled.

Been testing some managed switch configurations which are failing for AP with the RBS ethernet connected for Guest Network.

        Non managed switch doesn't reproduce.

Will monitor the system this comming week

No other Internet Connected entries since I put this online earlier today.

That size of home, the RBR and just one RBS should be enough.
