2.5/5G

I have an RAX29 router and a 1st generation Amazon Echo.  The Echo will not connect to the router.  Researching the issue turned up that the 1st gen Echo does not like dual band routers.  The fix is to disable 5G connect the Echo and re-enable 5G on the router.  When I log into the router and enter advanced setting, the 2.5 and 5G are listed together and cannot be disabled separately.  Is there a way to separate them to temporarily to fix this.

Amazon Echos do not like dual band routers when the same SSID is used for each band.

You might try under the page for wireless settings, not advanced.

The RAX29 is very limited in features.

I've never had issues with my 1st gen echo and connecting to any of my nighthawks or orbi's.

But you can disable smart connect so you can separate out the ssid's, program the alexa, and then re-enable it.

  • Should be able to disable Smart Connect on the Routers web page using a web browser. Basic tab/Wireless settings.
