attached devices

I just got a talking and hopefully listening bot on my browser but its telling me i have no microphones. I have speech recognition on my tv/monitor, i even have an amazon echo sat next to me. I have a sky router with this one daisy chained onto it. I looked on my network preference pain. No inputs listed in the sound preferences but my tv is listed in the outputs. Strange. I also have an ipad with a mic which i always have in front of me (disabled). All my devices are listed on my netgear admin page so i need to know how i can make a mic available to my bot?

I think i saw that i can change netgear to an access point, is that better?

If you have network problems, that would be a good move. You then hit this:

But that may not be important.

But again, I doubt if this will have any impact on the microphone problem. That is nothing to do with the routers. You should probably talk to the people who produced this unnamed "listening bot" for your browser.

  • And this has to do with networking how exactly?

You also don't say which router, firmware version and modem you have!

That is down to whatever problem you have that involves the router.

As microchip8 says, the microphone problem described in your first message doesn't have much, if anything, to do with your router.

There is one warning message in your first post. You say:

I have a sky router with this one daisy chained onto it.

If that means that you have two routers on your network, that is asking for trouble. It will have nothing to do with your microphone issue, that is down to whatever microphone you have on whatever computer you are using. But it could cause other problems.

Two routers on your network can cause headaches. For example, you can end up with local address problems. Among other things, the other router can misdirect addresses that the Netgear router usually handles, such as routerlogin.net or the usual IP address for a router, 192.168.1.1.

This explains some of the other drawbacks.
