Ax6600 Rax70 with cisco 5320 ip hone issues

I am stumped, and I need some help to understand how to further diagnose and fix the problem.

AX6600 WiFi Router (RAX70), CM1200 cable modem. Xfinity internet at 450mbps

I'm trying to setup my company's cisco 5320 phone that they have given to me for teleworking. It sits in a DHCP discovery mode. IT have said everything looks good with the phone , changed cables ,poe injecter etc. and they aren't sure why I cannot connect. other coworks have used this exact same phone in there home with no problems or issues. Using the same provider xfinity.
If i plug the phone in to the back of the router (and it doesnt matter what port you try) the phone does not even show up in the active device list or act as its plugged in, the lite that comes on ie 1,2,3,4 to show there is a connection to that port comes on.

If i plug the phone directly into the back of the modem, unplug the router power cycle the modem, the phone gets a dhcp and connects just fine. If i plug the router into port 2,3,4 on the modem with the phone in port 1 it has not internet even after a power cycle i lose either the phone or the router. If i plug a laptop into port 1,2,3 of the modem i can not get any connection. I have tried many configurations including switches, hubs, etc etc.

Currently, I am updated to the latest firmware and have done both reboots and a factory reset.

  • Try putting the IP Phone in the RAX router DMZ.

Also the WAN ports in back of the CM1200 modem are only assigned by the ISP and most ISPs only assign 1 port in back for a WAN IP address, all other ports are not usable, unless the ISP supports additional WAN IP address assignments. Something to ask your ISP about.

Might contact Cisco about this regarding there product for additional help and support information.

  • SIP ALG has been known to cause problems with VOIP phones.  By default it is enabled on Netgear routers.  Go to Advanced -> Setup -> WAN Setup, toward the bottom you should see a checkbox to disable SIP ALG.  You may have to reboot your router.

SIP ALG is a good start point for a web search regarding configuration of routers to support VOIP phones.
