Beamforming and Mu-Mimo and any suggestions for best settings for RAX50 please?
Beamforming and Mu-Mimo and any suggestions for best settings for RAX50 please?
Saw this link for Orbi and I am sure it applies to RAX50 as well since I read a related thread as well.
Have a RAX 50 Version 1, Serial and saw that Beamforming is checked but Mu-Mimo was not checked. I understand there is an issue of sorts (perhaps wifi related and dropping connections) has this been resolved yet or should I leave Mu-Mimo unchecked
I unchecked 2.4ghz 20/40 co-existence this time on this router versus my Fast 5260 one from Spectrum
Anything else on this router I should watch out for including perhaps not upgrading firmware due to new bugs? Settings recommended? I realize things do happen.
Current firmware: 1.04.0.100
Newest: 1.0.12.120 have not upgraded yet...
Am replacing a Time Warner Sagemcom Fast 5260 with eh RAX50 but also have an older Netgear R8000P downstairs as an access point. I will analyze the signals to determine beet channels for speed and lack of overlay
Thank you
Peter

What mode is the ISP modem working in? Router or Modem only? Your ISP Modem already has a built in router and wifi. This would be a double NAT (two router) condition which isn't recommended. Couple of options,
1. Configure the modem for transparent bridge or modem only mode. Then use the NG router in router mode. You'll need to contact the ISP for help and information in regards to the modem being bridged correctly.
2. If you can't bridge the modem, disable ALL wifi radios on the modem, configure the modems DMZ/ExposedHost or IP Pass-Through for the IP address the NG router gets from the modem. https://kb.netgear.com/25891/DMZ-on-NETGEAR-routers

3. Or disable all wifi radios on the modem and connect the NG router to the modem, LAN to LAN configure AP mode on the NG router.

Try option #2 first...Do problems happen or continue if you turn OFF the R8000P router?
Enable MIMO and check.
Best to update FW and see if problems are resolved. Factory reset and setup from scratch as well after updating FW. A complete pull of the power adapters for a period of time after the factory reset then walk thru the setup wizard and setup from scratch with a wired PC and web browser. https://kb.netgear.com/22697/How-do-I-install-my-NETGEAR-router-using-the-router-web-interface
Recommend setting the default DHCP IP address pool range to the following after applying and a factory reset: 192.168.#.100 to 192.168.#.200.

I mentioned I had a router and then I had also an access point. I never said I was keeping another router and going to have a double NAT. So thank you for the reply, but it doesn’t actually assist me. I have a standard router not co
part of a separate cable modem combo. I mentioned I had a router and then I had also an access point. I never said I was keeping another router and going to have a double NAT. So thank you for the reply, but it doesn’t actually assist me. I have a stan ISP WIFI router completely separate from ISP cable modem. And a router configured properly as an access point connected to the router. That’s OK I will figure ask another source about any possible buugy firmware which I believe by reading this does not from prior versions and corrected. Take careYou'll need to update FW then.
Good Luck.
