Not getting WiFi speed

So my AT&T plan is 1000mbps. My wired connection from the BGW210 modem is around 800-900mbps but when I connect to the RAX40 I’m getting around 200-300.

  • the BGW210 is a modem/router combo device. And att is horrible at enabling pass through mode/modem only mode on their devices.

you're basically in a double nat as well as there's the chance that the BGW210's own firmware is throttling the speeds.

have you tried the RAX40 in AP mode? it disables router mode and you lose some functions but can fix the double nat issue.

Is that a wifi speed? I ask because your subject says "Not getting WiFi speed" but the message gives no clue.

If it is wifi, the speed will be down to the wifi clients. For many clients 200-300 Mbps is pretty good and will never be as as fast as the wired speed.

Good call. Figured the OP was testing via wired but I shoudn't assume. :)

Indeed. That's why we need full details. It was only the subject that made me ask.

  • What transfer speed are you getting if you run the Nighthawk App "Speed Test" from teh RAX40?

This feature runs on the router so should give you an indication of the actual speed between the modem/router & RAX40.

Maybe worth to read some of the other RAX80/120 threads as there are other users reporting problems with LAN transfer speeds being halfed due to issues with QoS.
