RAX200 - Wifi visible but no traffic possible. Randomly daily. Restart works for few hours then.
Hello!
Got my RAX200 for over two years now and only since 1-2 months following happens:
Wifi is shown on devices but without internet connection (and I can't even connect to the router itself).
Connection via LAN cable is still working properly.
After turning Router off and on, all devices connected via Wifi work properly again for some time and all of a sudden loose connection again after some hours.
Firmware is up to date, router has been reset to factory settings. Same behaviour.
Anyone got any idea?
Thanks in advance!
Wolfgang
Thanks to all the thoughts, I'll close this thread and accept the answer - helpful or not.
As I stated multiple times, the LAN-connection via RAX works perfectly, only WIFI is affected but it seems that the modem is the only thing that is on everybodys mind and the only valid explanation rather than looking at the issue itself. This configuration worked for years, with different Netgear products before the RAX and in different locations and all devices (including modem) had been rebooted multiple times.
I know about the network-issues you all describe and I'm familiar with network topoligy. Btw. the router uses DHCP to get a valid IP from the modem and I'm quite sure Netgear can handle this basic network feature without resulting in a "confused" router and even if it would get confused, then there would be NOT traffic possible via LAN (which - again - works perfectly).
At the moment I'm guessing a heat problem, which several other threads seem to show with same issue and even on different RAX-devices if too many Wifi-devices are connected.
Again, thanks for the given support - unfortunately none of which really adresses the real issue with lost WIFI-connection while LAN is working.

1. what actual firmare version is it?
2. what modem/gateway is the router connected to?

Firmware: V1.0.10.140_1.0.79
GUI: V1.0.10.140_2.1.46.1ISP is Standard-Cablemodem. Not authentication required. DHCP connect.
Since I cannot even access the Router via Wifi when the problem pops up and LAN-connection works fine, the ISP should not be the issue.
The problem definitely lies within the RAX200.

The problem definitely lies within the RAX200.---not 100% proven yet. Double-nats can cause issues like this all the time. Its why we ask what actual modem/gateway you have. So can a sketchy firmware issue. Maybe somethings corrupt in the firmware or settings (since that firmware is over a year old). You can try re-installing the firmware and then doing a factory reset/reinstall. Just don't install from a backup in case something is corrupt.
