RAX42 5GHz constantly cutting out when OFDMA is on
Hello friends, I have an issue that I've put up with for over a year now. My router model is an RAX42 and I'm running firmware version 1.0.12.120_2.0.83
Here is some potentially helpful info...
Region | North America |
Channel | 40(P) |
Mode | Up to 3600 Mbps |
Wireless AP | On |
Broadcast Name | On |
Wi-Fi Protected Setup | Configured |
I am using short preamble with a frag length of 2346 and threshold of 2347.
Implicit beamforming, MU-MIMO, and AX are all set to 'ON'
When I first purchased the router I was able to turn on OFDMA in 5GHz and it was worked/was stable.
A few months later, suddenly I am getting constant drop outs from ALL wireless devices on the 5GHz band.
I set off on troubleshooting with all kinds of setting changes and tweaks. After a frustrating multiple hours, I finally landed the OFDMA setting for 5GHz... I turned it off and just like that all devices were stable on the 5GHz network and I didn't have any problems since. I am looking for a solution now because I feel like the feature should be available to me as it was included with my purchase. Please help! I will be happy to answer any other questions and attempt any troubleshooting steps.
Thank you!

- microchip8MasterHave you tried firmware version V1.0.15.128?
I haven't heard of that firmware. Are you sure it is a firmware meant for the RAX42, because when I check for firmware updates through the interface, it comes up with 'up to date'?
If you're sure I should try it, can you link a download for me?
Thanks for the response!
Update: I installed the 1.0.15.128 hotfix update and it did not fix the issue.
Interestingly, the 2.4 GHz OFDMA option enabled works just fine.
Mind you, I am testing this by connecting at least 2 WiFi 6 capable devices onto either network and then sending and receiving packets. During the 2.4GHz test everything runs smoothly with no issues. During the 5GHz test everything almost instantaneously seizes up and I lose connection on all devices connected to 5GHz band.
It is also important to note that I am using the same two WiFi 6 devices to run both the 2.4 and 5GHz tests.

Having the exact same issue. after two days of troubleshooting I arrived at the same point, Turning on OFDMA on 5GHz immediately makes all devices loose connection and I can't get it back without completely resetting the router. Runs perfectly on the 2GHz band.
Router firmware is up to date as well
Hope this gets fixed soon
