RAX48 Nighthawk AX6 AX5200 - red power light and red internet light

Router is displaying solid red power light AND solid red internet light. Please provide your suggestions on how to correct. Thank you.

  • What verizon modem is it?

Some have their own integrated routers that cause a double nat.

A double nat happens when you cascade more than 1 router.

Fixes? There’s 3 options but only use 1.
    1. Put the modem/gateway in modem only/pass through mode. This disables its routing functions.
    2. Leave the modem/gateway in router mode but put the Netgears IP address into its DMZ. This forwards the data to the netgear. You can either leave the modem/gateway’s wireless enabled or disabled. Just make sure its using a different wifi channel to prevent interference
    3. Put the Netgear into access point mode. This disables its routing functions. Wifi/ethernet still works but it does disable some features.

See if you can access it via an ethernet connection.

Also, the RAX48 has a wifi on/off button. That could have gotten hit by the toddler. A factory reset doesn't clear that out because its a hardware setting. Push and hold it for 2 seconds.

  • Some details might help.

    1. what was going on when it happened?

    2. are the lights doing anything?

    3. what modem/gateway is it connected to?

    4. what firmware is on the router?

    5. Have you tried a factory reset? Push and hold reset for 7-15 seconds while powered on

Try the factory reset first. Toddlers are great at clicking the power on/off repeatedly and causing issues
  • Unplug everything from the router including the ISP lan cable from the modem/ONT.

Press the reset button for 10 seconds then release.

Remove the power adapter from the wall outlet or power strip for 30 seconds. Then plug back in. Try a different wall out let or power strip.

    Does the LED behavior change?

Check the user manual for LED status behavior.

Can you access the routers web page at 192.168.1.1 with a ethernet connected PC and web browser?
