RAXE500 -Readyshare- Network Drive Add Issue but access the Drive Over Internet
Hi All,
I have been using an SSD connected to the USB 3.0 port of my RAXE500 router (Firmware Version V1.0.12.96_2.0.45) and was previously able to:
- Access it via FTP from outside my network.
- Add it as a network drive within my home network.
However, for the past week, I have been unable to access the ReadySHARE network drive within my home network. No updates or changes have been made.
Observations:
- The SSD works fine when directly connected to my laptop.
- When plugged into the router, it appears in ReadySHARE.
- I can access it externally via FTP.
- But within my home network, when I try to add it as a network drive and enter the username and password, it still doesn’t connect.
- I tried this from 3 Homes Windows laptops, Windows 10 and Windows 11, but I had the same issue.
Would appreciate any insights or troubleshooting steps to resolve this.
Solution: First Control Panel>Credentails Manager>Windows Credentails>Delete the Stored Readyshare one.
Open Network and Internet Setting>Change Adaptor Options>Adaptor>Right Click>Properties>Instead of using \\readyshare\, try manually entering different paths:
Press Win + R, then type: \\192.168.1.1 (or your actual router IP). It will ask for the Router username and password. Enter router one and not the Windows one. Don't click on save username and password; otherwise, you will need to clean this again.
Alternative Path Formats to Try:
\\192.168.1.1\ --------- I'm able to access this from Folder Explorer.
\\READYSHARE\ ---- When I entered this, it gave me the same error after entering the router Credentials
Restart Network Discovery & DNS Cache
Open Command Prompt (Admin)
Run the following commands one by one:
net stop dnscache
net start dnscache
net stop fdrespub
net start fdrespub
net stop nlasvc
net start nlasvc
Since I don't want to use the Router IP and More Inclined to the \\readyshare\ path
Router Login>Advanced>USB Functions>ReadySHAREStorage>USB Storage (Advanced Settings)
Network/Device Name: I changed readyshare to readyshares
I am able to access the network driver on the wifi + FTP as well.

did something change with the network to disable their network security/sharing (ie, changed from private to public) ?
Have you tried re-mapping the drive?

I have thoroughly reviewed all available information and attempted all suggested solutions. However, the issue persists. At this time, I do not wish to upgrade the firmware to version 1.2.13.100, as it has known issues, including Wi-Fi drops. Please provide an alternative resolution

We'll have to take your word for that. There have been many questions and answers here on ReadySHARE issues.
I recently had new problems with ReadySHARE that tracked back to a Windows update.
Did you find this in your extensive research?

You have experienced these issues, or are they just something that you have read about?
