RAXE500 router throttling upload speed via wifi

Hello,

I recently purchased a Netgear Nighthawk RAXE500 tri-band router. I have a Verizon Fios gigabit connection. There is a CAT7 cable running from my ONT box to the router. There is also at CAT7 cable running from the router to my gaming PC. Speed test on my hardwired PC run about 930mbps download and 940mbps upload. Over WiFi my download speeds vary depending on which ghz band I connect too. However I am always limited to 200-250mbps upload speed. Even on the 6ghz connection right next to the router where I am recieving 880mbps download, I can only obtain 200-250mbps upload speed. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I tried multiple firmware versions including the newest, performing factory resets, and messing with multiple settings to no avail. I currently have the traffic meter and armor security off, although turning them on makes no difference.

Thanks,

  • What Firmware version is currently loaded?
What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Is the CAT7 cable between the Modem and router UTP or STP?

What port are you using on the RAXE to connect to the ONT? Yellow WAN Port or the 2.5Gb port?

What wifi devices are you connecting and speed testing with?

    Is Smart Connect enabled?

    What channels are you using?

    Is Beamforming and MIMO enabled?

      Firmware version v1.0.9.78

(router was factory reset after installing)

I am unsure about the ONT mfr and model#. I will reply to this when I get home and can look at it.  I do not believe this to be the issue as I did forget to mention in my post, the previous router I had, did not have this upload speed issue. (Previous router was a Verizon G1100).

Cat 7 cable is 100ft STP.

Yellow WAN Port is used to connect the router to the ONT.

      Thanks,

To test the speeds I am using my Galaxy S21 Ultra 5g on all the ghz bands. Also a high end Acer laptop with an I7 processor. Both yield similar results with the exception that the laptop cannot connect to the 6ghz band.

      Smart connect is disabled

I believe I am using default (will post screenshots when I get home today)

Mimo is enabled. I did not see an option for beamforming specifically.

      Beam forming is on

I'm using Channel 02 on the 2.4ghz band, channel 40 on the 5ghz, and channel 53 (psc) on 6ghz.

  • Hi Jbarrick17,

Which Speedtest server were you choose? Sometimes use different speedtest server would gain different results.
You can try the nearest one.
