Slow ping speeds after firmware upgrade
I was using firmware V1.0.11.94_2.0.44 when I would ping from laptop to. router using wifi I would get ping speeds around 1-2ms which is in line with what is expected on wifi. When ping the RAXE500 router from a wired PC I would get <1ms ping times. Also expected. I then upgraded to firmware 1.0.12.96 and noticed that when pinging from wired or wireless back to the router my pings where all over the place with an average of 10ms+. On a LAN this is completely unacceptable. I then upgraded to the latest version which I believe is 1.2.13.100 hoping the issue was addressed and did not see any improvement. I did a factory reset and set up everything manually again. Same results. If anyone has seen this before please let me know how it was fixed(or not). I also noticed this guy had the same problem.
Also to note I am running the RAXE500 in AP mode. Like the other poster as soon as I downgrade the firmware back to. 1.0.11.94 the ping times return back normal. There are no settings I can see that are different. QOS is turned off and I know people ask how this is connected on the WAN to the internet but that has nothing to do with this. The high ping times I am referencing are LAN. I am pinging LAN to LAN, internal switch issue with firmware upgrade? And yes the 10+ms increase is also seen when pinging to the internet. For example pinging to google.com is about 8ms on old firmware any newer firmware adds 10ms. So at this point I am just running the old firmware and pings are working fine. Can someone else confirm? Perhaps Netgear can fix this in a future release.

Are you pinging from a ethernet connected PC connected directly to the back of the RAXE or is the PC connected to the host router pinging to the RAXE in AP Mode?
Are seeing problems with the later version of FW loaded or just the pings are higher is all from the older version of FW?
Best to let NG support know about what your seeing or this might not get fixed. NG developers don't hang out here in these forums:

Then clicking on "Get answers about NETGEAR products before I buy" then clicking on "Networking for Home" then "Chat with us".- adubzAspirantI am seeing the increased ping times on the newer FW using both wired PC directly to RAXE500 and also when my laptop is connected to the RAXE500 Wi-Fi in 5ghz mode. I am not connecting to the Fios router to run these ping tests at all. And like is said all works fine on the old FW the last 2 versions both have this problem. I don’t see any other problems other than the increased ping times on the newer FWs.
Something to submit a support ticket to NG and let them know then.
