ssid help

how do I add new ssid names to a rax36 router?  I changed the nest of the guest ssid but I need 2 more names so I don't have to change several items that are locked into my old router names...

😊

  • The RAX series only supporting the main WLAN with Smart Connect enabled and one Guest Network SSID. You can disable Smart Connect on the main WLAN and have two separate SSIDs there. The Guest Network only allows for one SSID.

You can separate out the ssid's from the one wifi/single ssid option.

But in reality, if you're needing multiple ssid's, you should be using one of the business class devices that allow for multiple ssid's.

When I install a new WiFi router, I always give it exactly the same WiFi credentials as the previous router (SSID/password).  That allows all 60 of the WiFi devices around the house to connect automatically to the new router without any effort on my part.  This also allows me to "go back" to the previous router and still have every device reconnect.

The RAX36 supports one SSID/password for the primary WiFi network.  See page 65 of the User Manual:

  • that seems only to change the one that came with it.  I had 4 different names on my old Netgear router,  don't ask me why but it worked for 10 years.  I need simple since all the docs are complicated..... old age..

Please humor an even older person.  What model number was that Netgear WiFi router?

so you had 3x of those routers? because that's not the same as a single router broadcasting 4x ssids

That could be WMR1000v3 (version 3)... Except.... I find nothing in the User Manual about defining multiple WiFi SSIDs.
