X6 (R8000) - AC3200 - Sporadic Wifi speeds

Hi

About 3 weeks ago I guess my Wifi started being very sporadic in its speeds. Sometimes 30MB sometimes 341MB download. No settings were changed etc. Updated to latest firmware, no luck. Factory reset completely and still the same sporadic.

"Hardare support" is the sum of "you're lights are flashing and so your hardware is fine". I dont believe its a setting otherwise I would have seen this when I first bought the product. I see this occurring on all 3 bands.

Guest networks are disabled

WAN settings, all unselected except Disable IGMP proxing

QoS off

WMM all enabled

Anything else that might be of interest that might help?

Any help appreciated

Thank you all

    2 things you could try.

    (try 1 then the other)

    1. try installing version 1.0.4.28 of the firmware to the R8000. Then do a factory reset and a clean install (not from backup). disable auto-updates. the newer versions integrated netgear armor and not all r8000's played nicely with it.

    2. try the virgin router in router mode and the r8000 in access point mode. Maybe its passthrough mode is sketchy

  • What actual firmware version are you on?

what modem are you connecting to?

    Are you using smart connect?

Smart connect band steers devices between 2.4ghz and 5ghz as needed. and 2.4ghz is very slow in comparision to 5ghz.

Have you noticed if its specific devices?

Do hardwired devices see a decrease in speeds?

      Hi

      Thanks for replying.

What actual firmware version are you on? - V1.0.4.66_10.1.75

what modem are you connecting to? - VirginMedia SuperHub

Are you using smart connect? No

Smart connect band steers devices between 2.4ghz and 5ghz as needed. and 2.4ghz is very slow in comparision to 5ghz.

Have you noticed if its specific devices? Its all devices, iPad, Android OnePlus phone (3 of), desktop computer with Gigabit Ethernet card, laptop (generic wireless card I think)

Do hardwired devices see a decrease in speeds? I dont have anything hardwired but when I did when testing albeit over a short period of an hour or so, there was no issues.

As an aside I thought it was maybe channel interference but they are all reporting as Good on the channels assigned

      5G is 36+40+44(P)+48

      5G-2 is 100(P)+104+108+112

      Thank you
