"Enable Smart Parental Controls on Your Router" nag ad pops up EVERY time I login

NetGear support is clueless as how to suppress this Circle nag-ad or they are just ignoring customer satisfaction.  I believer it is both!  I have a case ticket open and another 30 days in which to return my R7000P to Amazon for full refund.  I have updated to the latest firmware version with no improvement and that Firmware Version V1.3.3.148_10.1.8 appears to have major bugs.  My router randomly locks up and on reboot begins cycling through the startup routines. It recovers after several reboots.

If not solved in a couple of weeks, then back it goes to the Amazon trash bin.

  • You have joined in on an existing conversation that started two years ago, and that has been dormant for a year. This conversation may or may not have anything to do with your problem.

There is also a good chance that the official support team is busily monitoring new conversations and may miss your addition to this one.

The problem that started the thing off has gone away for most people, it seems. My own R7000P hasn't shown any annoying popups in quite some time.

So there may be something odd happening at your end, or your problem is not the same thing.

You might do better to start your own conversation.

  • What is the Mfr and model# of the Internet Service Providers modem/ONT the NG router is connected too?

Be sure your using a good quality LAN cable between the modem and router. CAT6 is recommended.

What channels are you using? Auto? Try Auto and 48 on 5Ghz. Or try setting manual channel 1, 6 or 11 on 2.4Ghz and 40 to 48 channel on 5Ghz.
Any Wifi Neighbors near by? If so, how many?

Has a power off for 1 minute then back ON with the ISP modem and router been performed since last update?
Be sure to restart your network in this sequence:
    Turn off and unplug modem.
    Turn off router and computers.
Plug in and turn on modem. Wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on the router and wait 2 minutes for it to connect.
Turn on computers and rest of network.

Has a factory reset and setup from scratch been performed since last FW update?

Does the top of the router feel warm or extra warm to the touch when this happens?
