The "Enable Smart Parental Controls on Your Router" nag ad pops up EVERY time I login to my router.
Ever since I applied the V1.0.4.98_10.0.71 firmware update, I am presented with a ""Enable Smart Parental Controls on Your Router" pop-up every time I login. There is no checkbox to disable this Circle ad. I never had Circle, nor will ever need any parental controls. My parental controls are disabled and have never been enabled.
1. Re-applied firmware
2. Tried 4 different browsers
3. Cleared my cache for every browser.
Does anybody know how to stop this Circle nag ad?

The Netgear manager that decided this was a good idea really should be fired! Why would you deliberately piss off your customers *every* time they log in to administer their router?
The kicker is that Circle is a very poor product. I tried it and it's very difficult to use and configure. The app is designed to work only on phones and is crap on an iPad or PC. It's clearly nothing more than a marketing ploy and not a serious security product. So, not only is Netgear making me angry every time I log into my router, but they are reminding me how little regard they have for true security every time they do it.
I have now posted to r/NetGear on Reddit "Netgear firmware forced "Circle" Advertisement Netgear Nighthawk 6700v3 and other models. I AM DONE WITH NETGEAR forever and why." I will continue to share this terrible experience across most forms of social media and communication.

Which idiot thought this was good idea? Whomever it was should be fired. Netgear, fix this and give us the means to shut it off permanently.

Any hopes of some action to fix this abomination?
- BpjbTutor
Only way to fix is to downgrade the firmware. It only contained security risks, so hopefully the next firmware will contain security and get rid of this abomination. The firmware is available on https://www.netgear.com/support/product/r8000.aspx under firmware / "other versions". The previous version 10.0.4.58 works with both the app and the website without advertising.
SmartConnect doesn't work properly with either(!) but if you go back another version it is worse!

I agree that this is a royal PITA and needs to be fixed.

Can everyone that is experiencing this issue list me the router model they have so I can report this to the engineers for each model.
Thanks

Hi Darren
R8000 here

If you try to sign on to Orbilogin.com and you get a screen Enable Smart Parental Controls on Your Router, check your URL line to see if the site is "Secure".
My sight shows "Not Secure".
I found a CSRSS.exe file that is a trojan program. Netgear will not let you log on with CSRSS program running.

Any plans to release updated firmware for the R7000P? I've been seeing these ads for the last month or two, and I really don't need to know about your Circle app every single time I log in.

A firmware update appeared the other day on my R6400. After updating, the Circle ad re-appeared, but only once.
After the first appearance, it no longer shows up. HOORAY!! Netgear finally figured out they were being bad.
Thank you

I had to add my distaste for this nagging piece of adware on a product I purchased and own. Grrrrr ... I can't imagine the revenue stream was monumental enough to warrant irritating every single netgear admin on the planet. Everytime I login or refresh my browser it feels like a Netgear salesman is just laughing at me via that circle pop-up ... and there's nothing I can do ... except replace my netgear routers ... which, I will since it's time for a refresh in a few offices and we're not as integrated with something like meraki or ubiquiti. I'm a longtime netgear user here but forcing an ad on me is about as disrespectful as you can possibly get. Good luck Netgear!

I'm running the current version of the firmware. This issue is still present. I've never heard of an official firmware update installing nagware on a router before. Considering that this has not been resolved after several months, I'm going to either downgrade my firmware of install a custom third-party solution.

One at the bottom
Now one on the left too!

Netgear does not care what you want or think, They sell you a prodcut with a 1 year warranty but will only care to even help you for 90 days after that you have to pay them another $80 to even talk to them, They want you to come to the forums to fix the issues that you have among yourselves instead of giving tech support.
Netgear has become a money hungry corporation that does not care about its users.
Unstable 5G on ruters, constant reboots, Nag screens to enable features with no opt out option.
They sell you junk and expect you to figure it out
90 days tech on a 1 year warranty then demand 1/4 of the router value to help you. Since when did this become acceptable

I downgraded my firmware just to get rid of this. I don't want my router constantly phoning home to netgear to download ads that I don't want.
Totally unacceptable. I'm a lifelong Netgear user. Nearly all of my networking products are Netgear branded. If future firmware versions on my router's administration page contain banners to download Circle, the Genie App, use Armor, or whatever else, this will be my last Netgear purchase.

Anyone else enjoying the very intrusive ads they now force onto your tablet or phone via the Nighthawk app?
Amazing how little they think of their customers.

Does the latest firmware for R8000 still have the annoying banner ad at the top and the one which obscures a menu item in the left column?
