AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6300v2) front and rear panel lights

Hi. Anyone else still own and use an AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6300v2) ?

What are the functions of the green and yellow indicator lights on the ethernet ports on the back panel?

What does it mean when the green light is illuminated?

What does it mean when the yellow light is illuminated?

And on the front panel, the ethernet light illuminates green when my computer is on which I know is normal.

But why does it stay on when I turn off my computer?

Also after turning off my computer the ethernet port on the back panel where I have the ethernet cord plugged in illuminates the yellow indicator light and the green one goes off.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks, Tom

usually the green versus yellow is gigabit (1000mbps) versus 100mbps connection. It just is an easy check of the speed difference.
If its blinking, data is transmitting.

Some devices have a wake on lan (WOL) feature that the device can power on if a signal is sent over lan. so even if the device is powered off, sometimes the port is still active.

Hi. I appreciate you answering. I have included a screen shot of all the "WOL" settings I see in my "Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller". I have changed them to all say "Disabled". But the same thing still occurs when I shut down my laptop. The ethernet port in the back of my AC1750 WiFi Cable Modem Router (C6300v2) where I have the ethernet cable plugged into is always green when my laptop is powered on. Which I know is normal. And I do know what it means when it is flashing. But when I shut down my laptop, that same port shows an illuminated yellow light that sometimes flashes and some times remains steadily lit. And the ethernet "green light" is illuminated on the front panel. The only way I can prevent this from happening is to disable the "Realtek PCIe GbE Family Controller" in Network Connections before shutting down my laptop. I am just concerned that while my laptop is shut down/powered off that someone is trying or actually succeeding at getting information from my laptop. Any ideas? Thanks, Tom

Depending on how you shut down the laptop or just close the lid and how the laptop mfr designs the full power off, there could be some power or some activity on the line to the laptop. Some ethernet ports though the laptop maybe in sleep mode or just OFF, there is still power to the ethernet adapter and can show some activity and the connection. All depends on how the mfr and the OS designed and is configured to manage the ethernet adapter. If you pull the power cord from the laptop and the battery, there should be no indication on the back of the modem port then.
