After suggested compatable wifi router to add hard wire to an Optus CG3000-2STAUS

The CG router has never been any good at my place and keeps dropping out in all areas.
My iMac keeps hooking up and dropping out. I have been trying to download the Garargeband library for over a month now. The wifi symbol occilates between "turn wifi off" and "searching for connections". It happens as soon as I turn the computer on and all my family has dropout problems all over the house.
I just want to try blue wiring another 3 Arial powerful router to the Optus one and see if that fixes it as optus can't suggest anything else. The upload and download tests are ok.
Any help would be appreciated.

Hello Beergut
You could get a nighthawk router and run it in AP mode since you said the LAN connection works just fine and then just disable or hide the wifi network of the cg3000.
