Brother printer connects to AC1750 C6300 WiFi OK but Can’t be found when trying to print

Have been using my Brother MFC-J870DW for years via WiFi to an ATT Uverse Modem/Router.   Just switched to Xfinity cable internet via a new AC1750 C6300 cable modem/router.   Have all my devices working except the printer- it readily sets up and connects to WiFi, but when I select the printer and try to print from an app, on e.g. my iPad, I eventually get “Printer not connected”.  When I look at Connected Wireless Devices, the printer is missing.  I also connected  the printer directly to the AC1750, but it also doesn’t show in the Wired Devices.   I can see why this points to a problem with the printer, but again, it does successfully connect to the router via WiFi.

Thanks for listening.

  • Thanks, but I just solved the problem.  I just found a Network Reset in settings on the printer that I had previously overlooked, so it apparently needed to forget the previous WiFi settings.  The new router has different SSID and password, and the printer looked like it connected OK, but the router didn’t see it.  Maybe the subnet was different, I dunno.  Anyway, thanks again for the reply.

Did you re-add the printer to the iPad. I would remove any prior printer configurations first, then re-add it.

Be sure your wireless devices are all connected to the C series modems wifi.

Did you configure the same SSID name and PW as used previously on last modem router?
