C3700-100NAS

My C3700 Modem Router has never been able to update the firmware. I am still on version V1.01.05.

Spectrum has approved version V2.02.18 and they tell me that they are attempting the download.

My error log shows Error(4) SW Upgrade Failed after download - Incompatible SW file

Also, Notice(6) SW Download Init - via NMS

The ISP  (Spectrum) is not offering any solution. They claim they are doing the download. I need someone who really knows the firmware update stuff. Also, I am willing to debug If I can get information on file type, etc.   I really need to talk to hardware engineer but Netgear is useless on this.

Other than the firmware not updating, are you having issues?
Do you have a screen snip of the cable connections page and event logs?

The router is functioning but I want the updates. I am far behind any fixes they may have done for security

Problem with it is, a netgear engineer can't do anything either. With  modem/router combo devices, the firmware is part of the provisioning from the ISP. So when they push your service package with the speeds, it has the firmware as part of it.

Its part of the docsis spec and is controlled by spectrum.

So you can try contacting spectrum again or seeing if you can get a higher level tech support from them.

You can try contacting them to get the firmware.

One thing to keep in mind, is that most of the isp's are pushing for docsis 3.1 devices. The C3700 is an older N600 device that only has a docsis 3.0 modem thats a 8x4 device. Quite a bit older and the very base model spec for docsis 3.0. I'm not sure how hard spectrum is going to be to get it updated.
