C3700 WIFI XFINITY SLOW. PLEASE HELP!!

C3700 cable modem/wifi router

xfinity comcast internet provider

latest firmware

speeds today running speedtest right noxt to router

120Mbps download speed ethernet to pc

15-20Mbps download WIFI 5GHz

1Mbps download WIFI 2.4GHz

I tried factory reset, changing MTU to 1400, changing channels, restarting modem, checking latest firmware, etc.

nothing seems to be improve the wifi speeds which are extremely slow.  as you can see the speed to the PC hardwired is fast not sure why the wifi is slow.

anyone have this issue and know how to fix?

  • Make sure your password algorythims are set to WPA2-TKIP AES on both bands and when you do the speed test try it real close to the router.

received this message following your instruction

WPA-PSK(TKIP) operates at up to 54Mbps (legacy G) mode not N mode. NETGEAR recommends
that you use WPA2-PSK(AES) to get full N rate support.

also you said to test near router but that doesn't help as I want FAST WIFI speeds throughout the house.

Wpa2-psk (aes) yes that's what you should use. No router will give you those speeds from far away unless you're hard wired to it.
