Since I'll have to buy a new router, I'd rather get something better then spending the $150 on the Zyxel C3000Z. I was told that the NETGEAR - Nighthawk X4S Wireless-AC Dual-Band Wi-Fi Router - Black - Model: R7800-100NAS will work with Century Link Fiber. I was also thinking of the NETGEAR Nighthawk X6 AC3200 Tri-Band Gigabit WiFi Router (R8000) - "R8000-100NAS".
Any opinions on those 2 Netgear routers. My install is set for next Thursday.

An R7800 is a router, not a DSL modem+router. As a router, it will
work with almost Internet service, but as a DSL modem, it's entirely
useless. (It ain't got one.) You seem to need some kind of DSL modem,
and some kind of (probably wireless) router. You could get a combined
unit like the Zyxel C3000Z, or a Netgear DSL modem+router whose model
number starts with "D" (not "R"). Alternatively, you could get separate
DSL modem and (any-old) router units.
I use a Netgear D7000 with my old/slow CenturyLink ADSL service. As
I said, the Zyxel C3000Z has some DSL features ("bonding") which
some/many Netgear DSL gizmos (like my D7000) lack. I don't know if your
CenturyLink DSL service will use that feature. Now would be a good time
to find out. CenturyLink should be able to tell you what level of DSL
service you've ordered (ADSL/ADSL2/ADSL2+/VDSL/VDSL2/..., bonding, ...),
but I'd guess that they won't recommend any modems/routers other than
what they sell. When you've got the actual DSL requirements, then a Web
search may find some information from people who have actual experience
with (modern) CenturyLink DSL service and various modems, routers,
and/or modem+routers.

I do know that Netgear "Rxxxx" models lack a DSL modem, and you'd
seem to need one. Beyond that, I try not to recommend specific gizmos
of any kind when I know not much about the target environment, and even
less about most of what Netgear makes. Skimming over these forums will
find a discouraging number of complaints about almost any Netgear
product. (But, back when I tried to use a ZyXEL/CenturyLink PK5001Z,
its DSL modem section was ok, but its router was too lame to do anything
like what I needed. Everything's complicated.)
