C7000 router/modem, Nestcams do not always show up in my "attached devices" list

I recently bought a Nighthawk C7000 router/modem combo and everything seems to be working fine, except that I have three Nestcams that intermittently don't show up in the list of attached devices. They are definitely attached and streaming, but sometimes show up in the list, and sometimes don't. The only way to force them to show up is by unplugging them and plugging them back in but then they still disappear after maybe 30 minutes or longer.

This has also happened with my Epson printer and my Nest thermostat one time each, but the cameras are the ones that seem to have constant issues. And again, they don't actually disconnect, they just drop off the list of attached devices.

I have tried contacting Netgear support with no luck and really don't want to have to return this modem but I only have a few days left to do that so I am hoping someone can solve this issue for me before it's too late.

Thanks!

    Hello theandyman

Do they do this both on the 2.4ghz and the 5gz network?

  • Hi DarrenM,

That's a good question but unfortunately all of those devices that I've had issues with will only run on the 2.4ghz channel. I don't believe I've ever had anything missing off of the 5ghz list but there's usually only one or two things on that list, so whether it's just that there's fewer chances to lose something on that list or if it's exclusive to the 2.4ghz network I really can't say.

As an update though, I did end up exchanging that router/modem for a new one of the same model and it is doing the exact same thing. And I have even had a few occasions where my phone showed up in the "wired" list instead of on of the wireless lists. But I honestly don't remember if I had it connected to the 2.4 or 5ghz network when it did that.
