c7000_v2 SSID Broadcast Issue

Question

Hello All,I am using a Netgear AC1900 C7000v2 CableModem. When I runa windows utility that shows/detects wireless connections in myarea one of the field is COMPANY. This field shows the nameof the manufacturer of the modem. In my case NETGEAR showsin the COMPANY field. Is there any way or setting that can beset for the modem NOT to broadcast its manufacturer name?I am not broadcasting my SSID. Of all the wireless detected inmy area, ONLY Netgear has the COMPANY field that showsthe manufacturer(Netgear). All others that are not broadcastingSSID have BLANK "COMPANY" filed. Why is mine being broadcasted?I want it NOT showing.&nbsp; Any help appreciated.&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;

Does this happen when you turn OFF the modem for a few minutes? This SSID name disappear?&nbsp;
Go into the modems web page and under Basic tab/Wireless settings, you can change the SSID broadcast name to most anything. Somethign unique. Apply and save the setting. The new SSID name should appear in your detected broadcast list.&nbsp;

So with the modem powered OFF and not back ON, does the one SSID appear still?&nbsp;
Can you post a screen capture of what your seeing? Use the choose file button to inlcuded your picture file.&nbsp;

Thats something that can't be disabled. Just because other wifi signals are not showing the Company name doesn't mean they are not being broadcast. I presume the app controls this and can only give the company name if you were connected to there wifi signal then the company name maybe seen on that app. Something to ask the mfr of this app about. The app maybe detect the router mfr and then filling it in under the company name column. Something NG doesn't control.

Hi FURRYe38,&nbsp;No matter what I do the Company name still shows.&nbsp; I powered the modem off for a few mins then powered back on.&nbsp; No-go.&nbsp; I enabled, disabled, renamed SSID and it still showed.&nbsp; I did noticed another NETGEAR company name in my list(those not broadcasting SSID like myself) just now.&nbsp; So maybe there is no way to prevent it.&nbsp;&nbsp; I am using the Nirsoft WiFi Info View portable utiilty:&nbsp; https://www.nirsoft.net/utils/wifi_information_view.html&nbsp;Thanks again!&nbsp;&nbsp;

&nbsp;With the modem turned OFF, my listing no longer shows in the list of wifi's around me.&nbsp; I am going by my MAC ADDRESS and with power ON its there,&nbsp; power OFF its not.&nbsp; I see numerous other wifi's around me not broadcasting SSID and others that are.&nbsp; In the screen shot below it shows all wifi's I am detecting(mine has the MAC blocked out purposely).&nbsp; With the modem OFF the screen shot would be identical except that my listing within it is no longer there.&nbsp; In this screen shot you can see two other wifi's that are broadcasting the Company/Manufacturer name( NETGEAR modem and a 2WIRE).&nbsp;
