C7000V2 wifi speed issues - wired speeds just fine
I'm setting up a new Nighthawk WiFi Cable Modem Router (Model 7000v2) on firmware V1.03.08. When Comcast/Xfinity came out they were getting speeds of 1200 Mbps straight from the line. When connecting via cat 5, I am seeing speeds around 600 Mbps. However when using the Wifi I'm consistently seeing speeds between 30-80 Mbps (on multiple devices).
The only thing I've change so far from the factory defaults is to hardcode the channel to 7. When set to Auto it was directing me to channel 1 which already had a few networks, but there were none on 7. Wifi mode is set to the max, 600 Mbps for 2.4GHz and 1200 for 5.0GHz.
Is there something I need to tweak in the Wifi settings to speed things up?
What WiFi devices are you connecting to the modem?
You sure they are connecting to the 5Ghz radio?

Yep - that was indeed the issue. My devices were not connecting to the 5GHz radio. đ I had wrongly assumed this would happening automatically. Thank you.

Glad you got it working. Be sure to save off a back up configuration to file for safe keeping. Saves time if a reset is needed.
