C7800v2

Hello all,

Need help understanding connection speed speed issue.  Install new C7800v2 AC3200 cable modem/router.  ISP is Xfinity and download speed with wierd connection directly to the C7800v2 between Laptop = ~1 gp (980mps - 1.1gps).  Wirless connection speed with the laptop (less than a foot away from the C7800v2)

= 72mps.  I tried  three different laptops and all connect at ~75mps so this not a computer or NIC issue.

 

What would explain such a drastic reduction in connection speed through the C7800v2 wirless feature.  The 5 G connection is no different.  Do I have a defective unit out of the box?.  Have also contacted Netgear but waiting to here their explanation.

    What happens if you disavle WPA security on the modem temporarily and connect a wireless device to the 5Ghz radio? 

    Re-enable after testing this. 

     

    Try a factory reset on the modem and setup from scratch. 

    Be sure wireless modes are set to max connection rates for each radio. 

    Be sure wireless drivers are updated for any wifi adapter.

    Try changing channels, 1, 6 or 11 are recommended. 

     

    If you don't see any change, return the modem or contact NG support.

    what WIFI device do you have?

    have you tested on 5G?
