You could also look at the CODA56. Its even cheaper.
In terms of modems, its more about looking at the reviews for reliability. Because the speed/performance is part of their certification and what the ISP sets them for. The Netgear CM3000, Arris S34, and CODA56 are all rated to the same speed tiers/specs per xfinity. So I'd look at a few reviews and then see which you prefer based on reviews and prices. Thats about it as they should all perform the same while working.

What router do you have?
What speeds do you pay for?
Are you planning on upgrading to a faster router/ISP speed plan?
Those are the key questions. If you're planning on staying on a 500mbps plan, they'll do fine. But 1 gig +, its better to go a different version

I currently have a Linksys MBE7000 network via Spectrum's 600 Mbps plan. I plan to purchase Xfinity's 1 Gbps plan at a new address. After reading here, I'm leaning strongly toward the CM3000.
