Most likely, you don't.
Cable TV ISPs generally want to control the firmware on cable modems
which are connected to their networks, so you may not be able to update
the firmware on your cable (TV) modem. The ISP can do it.
If the folks at Netgear who are in charge of these notifications were
even minimally alert, then they might not be bothering users who have no
control over their firmware. Unless their scheme is to prod users into
complaining to their ISPs about it. Seems unlikely, though.
