Cannot find Firmware Update or Router Update button on N600, C3700 WiFi cable modem router
Hello, On Oct 5, '17 I received an e-mail from NetGear advising me to upgrade the firmware on my N600-c3700 router to fix a security issue. It asks to log into the router, select Avanced Administrat...

This one?:

I clicked on your user-ID to find that.

This seems to be a non-standard meaning for "identical". This thread
began with a question about a C3700, a cable-TV modem+router.
> My model is the C6250-100NAS and it is MINE. [...]
Ok, but the other thread (yours) referred to an "R6250", which is not
a cable-TV modem+router. If you really have a C6250, then it may not be
amazing that a response tailored to an R6250 would be less than
satisfactory, but it's not immediately clear that Netgear is the cause
of that dissatisfaction.

For a cable-TV modem(+router), the question is not who owns it, but
to whose network it's connected, as explained above.
> [...] My version of the firmware is vulnerable [...]
Says who?

AHA! well.. A: I clicked the icon, looked at the account stuff but now I know to click the name thing. I was totally unaware of that so thanks!
B: The other thing was a clear mistake (C6250 is right, R6250 is not. I had issues finding it on the list and the photos of them are identical. I would have sworn to you that I got the original model directly from the router-beast itself but.. yes.. oops )
As a result I was responding to: https://kb.netgear.com/000049498/Security-Advisory-for-WPA-2-Vulnerabilities-PSV-2017-2826-PSV-2017-2836-PSV-2017-2837
However, I still have no solution to updating firmware and I'm not really confident with hardware that does not have a firmware update path.
If you see anything else I missed, I'm good with you pointing it out. I just want to update it if it needs. I have a very very mixed household with 5 android devices, 2 pieces of fruit and 5 PC's.
Ideas?

NETGEAR is aware of WPA-2 security vulnerabilities that affect

Is your C6250 a wireless client? No, it includes a wireless access
point to which other (client) devices connect.
Is your C6250 a router operating in bridge mode? The only bridge
mode I see in the C6250 User Manual is for a modem-only mode, which is
not the kind of _wireless_ bridge to which the Security Advisory refers.
So, no.
Is your C6250 on the list of vulnerable devices? As with all other
cable-TV modem(+router)s, no. It can't be a wireless client device, and
it can't operate as a wireless bridge (where it would act as a fancy
kind of wireless client device).

It's a cable-TV modem+router. The cable-TV ISP controls its
firmware. It has a firmware update path, but it's largely out of your
control.

Don't worry, be happy?- tkhulaOct 28, 2017Tutor
Not happy - no the ISP does not control firmware or programming on a privately owned device. I'm lucky my isp could follow MAC address instructions. My issue is lack of updating capability. If it's something I can push.. then I want that line of code so I can do so should it be needed.
