Can't Connect Laptop Directly to CM100

I have a Windows 10 OS on my HP Pavillion HP Pavilion 15-au030wm. I am unable to connect directly to my CM1000 modem. I cannot get an internet connection at all. When I connect through the router (XR500 and X10) it states that I am only getting 100Mbps. I took my XR500 back and purchased the X10 for possibly seperate reasons (I could not get an opne NAT on my Xbox one X even after the software fix) I am supposed to be able t get up to 1Gb connection. Any thoughts?

    Do you have the latest NIC drivers on your PC? does your PC support 1Gps connections? Have you done port forwarding for the xbox?
