Can't get my ethernet connection to work

I have a new C7000 connected to Xfinity which works great in the wireless mode, but when I try to connect it driectly using my ethernet cable it will not work.  I am using a 2019 iMac running Catalina 10.15.3.  The network shows green  and says connected in System Preferences but nothing works.  Help.   

  • Is the network connecting showing a IP and DNS address when connected? 

    Are you using a USB to ethernet adapter? 

    Swap LAN cables and LAN ports on the Modem. 

     

    Try a different wired device to check for connection.
