Can't log in to router with admin

I bought a new cable modem router six months ago to stop the modem rental fee from Time Warner Cable. I got the C3700 model to replace our old router. I set it up with a new wifi password and a new admin password to access the router control panel. No problems. Internet access still works for both wifi and ethernet and the router still asks for the wifi password when a new device connects to the wireless network.

However, I can't log in to the admin control panel now. I remember the admin password and even had it written down in a safe place. The password doesn't work. I tried the default admin/password as printed on the router but that doesn't work either. There isn't a "restore factory settings" button on the router. What can I do to log in to the control panel?

    Was the new router supplied by TWC?

    Page 99 of the router manual suggests that there is a factory reset button recessed in the bottom centre of the router;

    But before you do this, just on the off-chance that you have a keyboard issue, type your password into a plain text box, e.g. notepad, or just type it in the User ID field. Clutching at straws there, but it does happen.

      Yeah! It seems to be working now. After studying the manual last night and trying a few things this morning. After I did a complete reset and it worked for me. My Genie looks a little different but it's working.
