Can't register my modem because it's in another person's name

I just bought a modem today and I can't get it registered with my cable provider because it's still under someone else name.Model c3700

If you cant register with the cable company than they need to remove it from there system nothing Netgear can do about that you may need to ask for a supervisor at the cable company to do it.
